Environmental Decisions

Last week Apple confirmed the withdrawel from the EPEAT environmental rating system. At the end of the week, they announced that this decision was a mistake and that with immediate effect, they are back in the system.
I believe Apple must have something up their sleeves, which requires new materials or manufacturing that doesn't quite fit into the rating system, but they were convinced that the price to leave the system was lower than what they would gain by releasing this or these products. After many complaints and announcements that e.g. the City of San Francisco would not purchase any more Apple products in the future, the price might have gotten too high and Apple withdrew their decision.
This is very Apple unlike, since you would assume decisions like this usually are very well thought through. Maybe they decided that only the specific products will be excluded from EPEAT. We might find out sometime in the future.
